Don't We All Wish We Were NED / (BYU AD LAB)

So today I went to my first official BYU Advertising Lab meeting. I am hoping to be able to volunteer this spring and summer and get more advertising experience.

Most of the people at these meetings have already signed up and are working on assignments for clients, but since I was out of town, I am a little behind.

They called all the new members to the front of the room and made us share our name, our favorite ice cream, and what our name would be if we were race horses (plus they were allowed to ask any questions they wanted). I was a little nervous already since I hadn't officially signed up with the ad lab yet and then because I had no idea how I was going to answer creatively enough in front of the room.

Here were my answers: Elise (duh)

Mint chocolate chip (I was too embarrassed to say that I have a milk allergy, especially since one of the current clients is Haagen Dazs).

Slick. (it was the ONLY name that came to me!!! haha. Slick. so i tried to make my answer sick by saying I would "slick" my hair back and be "slick" with the other horses. cheesy....lucky for me, some of the others answers were even cheesier.)

So after that, a Hawaiian kid asked me if I was related to NED. This is how I know that my little brother is WAY more popular than me, when even in my own major and after 3 years of schooling, people still always asked me if I am related to NED. I await the day when someone asks Ned if he is related to Elise. haha. well I miss that boy anyways.

So in honor of me hopefully started some legit advertising research or brunt work I want to share some commercials I have recently stumbled upon.

Regretfully, my favorite one (and more serious or sweet toned one) I could not find on the internet. Don't worry I will keep looking, but if you ever find a Hallmark commercial about a mom reading her daughter, Jenny's, old cards you will know which one I am talking about. Seriously it moved me. Good ad.

My Past Week:

So seeing as we have all been lacking on our family blog I thought I would share in brief my past week so that you can get a glimpse into Elise's fab life.

here we go:

1. I came home one day from 10 hrs at work to find

waiting for me inside from a dear friend. So I have now started reading Alice in Wonderland, which I have wanted to read since watching the movie with the same friend. And the beautiful spring tulips are still in our lovely living room!

2. At my SAME work where I've been working 10 hrs days twice a week (until recently with my new summer schedule) I had a funny experience with some co-workers. We do online marketing and we've received a lot of new clients lately so they were deciding how to divide up the clients. I got a phone call that went something like this:

Ryan: "Elise on a scale of 1 to 10, ten being the best, how much do you like dentists?"
Me (trying to be nice since it's work): "um I don't really care either way.."
Ryan: "Ok I gave you a 6/10. So that ties you up with Ashley."
Me: "um..ok."
Ryan: "oh wait hold on. Dan is going to spin the bottle to decide who gets the 15 dentists.". . . (spin) "Oh and it looks like you got the dentists. Congrats."
Me: "I better go floss right now."

So yes. I got my new work assignment because 3 guys a work used this:

3. I have been studying for finals like crazy an still have 2 more. Old Testament and Latin. Old Testament doesn't sound hard...but I have been postponing it and am likewise doing just that. ;) Latin is also another fun final, scheduled for the last day of finals. I struggle with that class but have the coolest professor Duckwitz. He is from Germany and is the sweetest man. His laugh is contagious! And he worked with Pres. Benson as a translator in Germany. Smart Man.
Anyways my studying has gone something like this:

4. I've been watching Shakespeare movies like crazy for extra credit in my Shakespeare class. One of my poor friends has seen most of them with me. Every time he wants to hang out I'm like ok, but we have to watch one of my extra credit movies. So we watched out last one together on Sunday before my final today. The movie was the 1965 version of Othello. Hilarious. Othello does not appear to be a real black man and Roderigo's wig is ridiculous! wish I could have found a picture of the wig for you. but here's the false black man. I feel like that makes the play more racist.


5. Ate OCTOPUS SUSHI! EW! Can I just say that the suckion (sp?) cups were still on and it was WAY rubbery chewy disgustingness. Sushi = good. Octopus = bad. I was cornered not only by a friend, but by the waiter. So yes, I woman-ed up and ate it. Regret it yes, but now I have bragging rights. Brothers: I don't think I have even told you. But look how brave your sis is!
I do not recommend it. Stick with Spicy Tuna or the Vegas roll.

6. My dear roommate, giggle buddy, and cousin Sarah left me this week to stay in Vegas for the summer while I remain in Provo. And she took our other fun roommate Liv for the week to party in Cali. Not able to be with them and missing their sexy bodies, I am feeling a song come on....and oh course it is a cheesy one. Sarah, Liv--this ones for you guys.


7. And last but not least: I AM SOOOO EXCITED FOR MY VACATION HERE-


I cannot wait to be home to visit with all my friends and family. I love you! Till Friday!

My new favorite performer

This is "sea sick Steve" a blues man is huge in Britain, but a lot of people in America don't know him. He got his big break when he played in BBC at 66 years old! in 2007 . He was born in California and lived in Tennessee for like 16 years. His life story is amazing. He uses strange instruments like a one stringed diddley bo! and his amaizing three stringed guitar he calls " the three string trance wonder". It only has 3 strings tuned to the wrong chords and use the wrong string thickness.(he has a story for it).
Elise I hope(strongly suggest!)that you (please) do a review of him in your blog at work.

He is probably one of the few genuine performers out there, very humble and simple.
